How to prepare for CUET UG across subjects
CUET UG is less about one hard syllabus and more about managing several tests well: a language test, subject-specific domain tests and a general test, depending on the courses you apply for. The key is a plan that covers each without neglecting any.

How the exam works
- It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is used for undergraduate admission to participating central universities and other participating institutions.
- Students choose the tests that match the courses they want: typically a language test, domain subjects based on the Class 12 syllabus, and a general test. In recent years the questions have been multiple-choice; check the official site for the current mode and format.
- Dates, syllabus, eligibility and the exam pattern are revised from time to time, so confirm all of them on the official website before you plan around them.
Where to focus
Domain subjects
These follow the Class 12 syllabus, so your NCERT textbooks are the base. For each subject, work chapter by chapter and practise questions after each.
Language test
Reading comprehension and vocabulary improve with daily reading and short practice passages, so make it a ten-minute daily habit.
General test
General knowledge, current affairs, logical and quantitative reasoning. Build the habit of reading a good newspaper daily and practise reasoning questions weekly.
A weekly rhythm that works
- Map each target course to the tests it needs, then budget hours across them.
- Daily: a short reading passage and a few reasoning questions.
- Three to four days a week: domain subject study with chapter-wise questions.
- Weekly: a timed practice set across test types, reviewed afterwards.
