Build citations and a bibliography in the style you need

Paste your sources — links, DOIs, half-remembered references or a plain description — and pick a style. Learnsable looks the links and DOIs up on the web, then gives you an in-text citation and a full reference for each, plus the whole bibliography in the order the style requires. Where something is missing, it tells you what, instead of inventing it.

What it does

  • Citations in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard and IEEE
  • Accepts URLs, DOIs, partial references and plain-text descriptions
  • Looks links and DOIs up on the web rather than citing from memory
  • An in-text citation and a full reference for every source
  • A bibliography ordered correctly for the style — alphabetical, or in citation order for IEEE
  • Flags the fields it couldn't find (author, year, publisher) so you can fill them in
  • The same tool also converts text between Markdown, HTML, LaTeX, plain text, CSV, JSON, Mermaid diagrams and Anki flashcards

How it works

  1. Paste your sources

One per line — a URL, a DOI, a partial reference or a description.

  2. Pick the style

APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard or IEEE, to match your instructor's brief.

  3. Check and copy

Read the flagged gaps, verify each reference against the source, then copy the bibliography.

Try asking

  • “https://doi.org/10.1038/nature14539 — APA”
  • “Make an IEEE reference list from these three links.”
  • “A 2021 report by the WHO on air quality — MLA.”

Good to know

  • A citation run uses 22 credits, the top tier, because it looks every source up on the web.
  • It never invents an author, year or publisher. Where a field can't be found it uses the style's standard placeholder and lists what's missing — fill those in from the source itself.
  • Always check each reference against your institution's style guide; small rules differ between editions and departments.
